Hi chaps,
Looking at some used Boxsters with a friend of mine...trying to gauge spec from pictures in some of the adverts where the seller isn't answering his phone and didn't provide any details in the advert! A couple of questions if anyone remembers:
- Was it possible to spec PCM without at least the Sound Package or Bose?
- Was Bose the only sound option to have the subwoofer and vent behind/between the seats?

Not sure on the first question - I would imagine so, but if you've paid that much for PCM (which isn't cheap) you probably aren't going to go for the standard (rubbish) sound system.
As to the second, yes, the BOSE system is the only one with the subwoofer and the speaker behind the seats. I've the Sound Package Plus and it gives you three way (mid and bass in the doors, tweeters in the dash) and a centre speaker - the amp for which is in the frunk under a cover at the back.
I've found the Sound Package Plus to be fine - though the BOSE is going to be better. That said, I wouldn't turn down a decent car because it doesn't have PCM/Bose, as the former is out of date and the Bose is very difficult to upgrade (though they now do an adapter to allow you to fit an aftermarket headunit, but it isn't cheap) should you want to.

Hi Dave - thanks for the answers. we've finally been to see the car concerned, and it does indeed have Bose and PCM 2.1. As you say, that combination is a bit of a pain...even adding an Aux port is impossible to do without spending 300 quid on a Dension etc. But I think that's what he'll need to do.
