no love for turbo718 over 300 already registered?

Doesn't surprise me, they are modern, look good, fast, plus Porsche probably have some nice deals on the go to entice buyers to place an order for their latest metal.
What would really interest me is of the 300 registered how many have been sold to repeat buyers or new to the Porsche brand.
I've not spotted any 718's out on the road yet though, plenty 981's strangely very few 986/987's.

It could be a real winner; a sort of step up from good, basic, no-nonsense sports cars like the MX5. If bunging a 4-pot in keeps them in the right price bracket, then it's probably the 'eight' thing for Porsche to do, plus it's evocative of the 356 and 550 cars.
I'd love to try one, just to make my own mind up, rather than listen to hype, nonsense or the official PR spouted through (most) motoring journos.

As mentioned I think people's need to make up their own minds up with regards to the engine and the only way you can do that is by driving one!
Mrs Digga used to run an Alfa 145 with the boxer four engine from new. IIRC this was the last Alfa to run that classic motor and it was a little gem; needed revving to get the best form it, but loved to rev and had a lovely character.As mentioned I think people's need to make up their own minds up with regards to the engine and the only way you can do that is by driving one!
We were both sad when the time came to upgrade it, but high miles and a water pump failure on the M40 made us both think its days were numbered. The BMW 325i coupe that replaced it had a very different -if also enjoyable - nature and was a major culture shock, mostly for the good, but that boxer...
I was at Silverstone on Monday and there is no denying the car is capable but the engine sound is worse than the most negative review I have read. No sports exhaust on any of the 718s I drove but suspect it'll take the exaggerated approach that the 981 GTS cars have adopted but with a couple of cylinders down, not sure how much better they can make it sound.

Mrs Twinfan has a Toyota GT86 with a two litre flat four. A nice enough enough motor, a bit agricultural unless you wind it up, but it has some character unlike an in-line four. I really like the car despite the engine.
I can live with the shortcomings @ £25k new, but not one at twice the price from a prestige manufacturer.

And there's the issue, the engine has turned a 50k car into a 30k car. Sure they'll sell loads because of current buying trends but for me it's a total non starter.I can live with the shortcomings @ £25k new, but not one at twice the price from a prestige manufacturer.
