Anyone got one and what are they like for draughts? I've got a Boxster at the mo and it's virtually draught free with the wind deflector.

Having had 4 seater cabrios in the past I wondered what the 996 was like. Is it refined, or do you get the wind whipping in from behind in the same way you would in a regular saloon?

Ta,

Rob

Put a wind deflector in it, and I find it far less draughty than the boxster! The deflector sits across the rear seat space though, so you lose the use of the rear seats, for passengers at least..... Or make them crouch down....

Only rear seat passengers are likely to be half sized anyway.... It has possibilities then.

Does the wind deflector store in the car somewhere?

Yep, goes in front luggage space in a purpose built bag -tidy enough. Does take up a little space though - particularly on a 4WD car!
As for having even the smallest of little people in the back with the deflector up, its not going to be possible. The deflector sits flat right across the back seat 'aperture' and then comes up vertically behind the front seats. Its pretty much like the ones you would find on a BMW 3 cab (i think?). But even without the deflector up, as long as you've got the windows up its not too bad. (in the front). Kids would get blown about in the back a bit.... But hey, its character building!! ;o)

When I had my 996 Cab, i found the buffeting to be very good. Over 60-70 there was some at the very top of my head (6ft) but nothing untoward, and was surprised at how 'quiet' it was compared to the TVR.

It was much better than my ///M Cab atm, and that remote roof action is just a piece of art!

I didnt have a Wind Deflector either..

Nice cars.. just need a little more oopmh

Cruise all day, oops I`ll re-phrase that, go hard all day, oops I`ll re-phrase that, drives all day at three figure speeds and the syrup don`t budge. Long as the deflector is in place, not a concern.

I was thinking more 'Turbo' Power

911;s are stunning handlers, and nippy in a line.. but now aweinspiring in non-turbo Guise.

now, Rich1231's ~500bhp Turbo..

WOW

Funny you say that, in the process of sourcing a 2003 Turbo, test drove a new Turbo "s" but the potential depreciation scares the bejesus from me.
( apologies for the hijack)
