996 Turbo S Suspension Specialist Needed?

Could anybody recommend a company that could test/check 996 Turbo S suspension please.

I recently purchased the car from an OPC however there's something wrong with the suspension at higher speeds (60/70mph +). It feels floaty and doesn't inspire confidence.

I've spoken with Centre Gravity who were very helpful although they're quite busy unfortunately.

The OPC has checked the geometry and confirmed its correct however the problem is still there. I think the OPC wants the test done to prove I'm dreaming !!!

Ideal location would be the midlands/yorkshire.

I'd have said Ken at Nine Excellence if you had been down South, but otherwise I hear the guys at Sports and Classic in Knutsford are excellent for Porsche suspension. You could ask on the 911uk forum as well, plenty of 996 Turbo owners on there.

I've just had a load of suspension work done on my 2005 Turbo S. It had done 70k miles, and needed new front dampers (one was leaking, so I did the rears as well with Bilstein B6s), coffin arms and front top mounts, as well as a new set of Michelin PS2s. It drives like a new car now, absolutely transformed, so although expensive it still feels like money well spent.

Thanks for the suggestion Pete. Although I'm down south and therefore would probably use 9e the car is currently 'up north' so needs to be someone there. I'll look up Sports and Classic ...

Current thoughts include Tech 9 or Ninemeister although I've no experience of either?

This is where I intend to go at some stage.The Ohlins R&T series are very affordable - start at £2k and far better than OEM. Can't go wrong IMO.

I have just had Ohlins road & track fitted along with new top mounts, coffin arms etc. Seriously like a new car and haven't had gel done properly as waiting for new wheels to turn up first..

Had the car for an event at the weekend but basic ride is vastly improved and really makes the car feel how it should have done from the factory.

Also had GT2 rear anti roll bar fitted too

That's a great price for Ohlins who reduced their UK prices when the GBP reaches €1.40. Can't be long before they put their prices back up....

Many thanks for the input. I've had an interesting chat with Mike at Sports & Classic. The car is under OPC warranty so any parts have to remain OE for now. That a great price for Ohlins though !!!

+Another. He's set my 996t and I know he owns a 996 GT3, so has a pretty good graps of what the 996 chassis is capable of doing.

Other than other places suggested above, I had also heard good things of Centre Gravty, but they're more Midlands than North.

Whats the ride like Jim? Much stiffer or is it still compliant? Let us know how you get on after having really leaned on the set up.
