997 Depreciation - what is likely outcome ?
Discussion
I can't see the 997 defying depreciation. While there is a waiting list, it is also true that the Sunday times ( and even many OPC's ) have one or two hanging around you can buy immediately.
Therefore, and allowing for the generous margin that OPC's insist on, I would expect the 997 to be no different to the 996.
So a 2 yr old example would be worth mid £40's I guess..

if you spend loads on a car then you will lose loads !
There are very very few new cars that can defy the depreciation challenge. 911s are no different.
If you want to defy depreciation the buy an early 996 or a 993. But a new or newish car and then you can kiss goodbye upto £1K a month on avg?

I am selling my £70k 997 C2S for £69k after nearly 5 months of ownership - I reckon that £1k depreciation is not bad. That is a private sale to a mate, but my dealer offered me only £1k less - so that he can put it back on the forecourt at list, sell immediately and make £2k easy margin.
I am collecting a C2S cabriolet on launch day (9 April) and like to think that I will be able to run that for the summer and sell it for close to list when I collect the new Aston Vantage (AMV8) at the end of the year which will be a similar story...

You are talking about rapid turnover of cars when they are still new and therefore a novelty.
It would be a different story if you kept your 997 for 2-3 years. That's when people like me try to find them after they have lost a chunk to grab a bargain!!
