996 c4s price advice

I have a 52 plate c4s in silver good and clean car with 86k on the clock black leather refurbished wheels yes all sounds good now the not so good bit
1 of the cylinders has D chucked now I have been told how much it is worth in parts but not sure if i can be bothered to strip it down
Any idea on what it's worth as it is

Put it on Ebay spares or repair should get around £5k maybe a bit more.

Or take it to Hartech spend 10k for a full rebuild and either keep it safe in the knowledge you have a sound car or sell for 20-22k and be 5-7k up on the eBay £5k.

Or speak to a Porsche specialist who might buy it from you (so they can repair it and sell on)?

I note that Portiacraft in London, for example, often sell 911's that they have rebuilt the engine on.

Also just found out that the insurance company has placed it on a cat grade
So not sure what this will do to the price

So you did not know that the car had a CAT before you bought?

Sorry yes was supposed to say say I forgot to say in my post that the insurance company has placed it on a cat C due to motor having water damage. I have had it 3 years

The question is do you want to keep it yourself. If you do get hartech to rebuild it then enjoy. If not start calling specialist breakers and see what they offer.

Cat.C with a duff engine, not going to fetch a pretty penny is it!

Get the engine off to Hartech, swallow the £10-12k rebuild cost & then keep it & enjoy it knowing it should retain whatever value it has.

It was just a example, of a 996 with a engine rebuild as a price guide for the Op.

Idea is to sell it on as once bitten and all
But yes a good c4s fetch a bit more money than a std

The other option is to repair it as cheaply as possible & not shell out the £10-12k for a full Hartech rebuild, then get shot & not mention the repair work.

Not entirely ethical but doesn't stop many people from doing it.

My thoughts (as a fellow 2002 C4S owner), with a newly Hartech rebuilt engine, it's got to be worth £20 to £25k depending upon the condition of the rest of the car. Being a 4S, it's possibly worth £8k as a roller, so with an engine rebuild at £10k, then you are in a good position to get it rebuilt then have the option to stick or twist. All you need to do it to cashflow the rebuild if you are of a mind to sell. I have to say, a 4S with a Hartech rebuild would be a keeper in my book, there's nothing else out there that'd give you the same bang for your buck.

Can't see it ever being worth £20K let alone £25K bearing in mind it is Cat C.
