As the search facility is temporarily down I can't do a search, so can anyone tell me the best price they've had to replace the clutch on a 993 C2 (or C4 if there's no difference) in the SE.

My left leg can't stand the torture anymore when I sit in traffic since it's getting really stiff so I think it's about time it gets replaced.

Northway did my 993 C4S a couple of years ago for about a grand.

In and out in 48 hours and the difference was amazing, and then i had to sell the car to move abroad...

Have you considered replacing the standard one with the lighter RS version and flywheel? Might not help your left leg much, but you should feel the difference when you use your right one!

Nope, will have to investigate cost difference unless someone can tell me.

Is it a straight swap, like for like?

My 993 C4S clutch cost about a grand earlier this year at Northway.

Not very keen on the RS flywheel though, drove a 993 with one fitted and it sounded like a cement mixer full of bolts and was a swine to pull away cleanly without bogging unless you carried a few more revs than you would expect.

I stuck with the DMF.

Caveat emptor.

I'll need to do my clutch at some point - interested in the lightweight flywheel option - anyone know whether it'd work on a supercharged car or would it be constantly stalling at idle due to the drag of the S/C ??

lightweight flywheel is an acquired taste and suits the sportier 993 shall we say,,,the noise can be off putting,,,but after a while I find it genuinely adds character...also the noise increases as the gear oil warms and thins out,,,so you know when it is safe to boot it.

re-setting the ecu with a battery disconnect when warm can cure any idle problems...I haven't had any stalls so far.

Big thumbs up to Jaz Porsche who not only replaced the clutch but also the master cycinder, fixed my wash wipe pump, carried out a yearly service incl a new sump of oil and gave me a litre top up too, all for £1,100 incl the vodka and tonic.

I can't recommend them enough.
