I've had my 911 out today and after a reasonably hard 45 mins I noticed the engine smells hot, the gauge says it's not over hot and I've checked the oil and water both are fine. Does anyone else have this or know what it might be.
Thanks

Seems normal to me, did it smell of warm rubber as well?

Ive noticed this with mine after a run. Was going to mention this when I get it serviced. Any info is always good.

Both 997s we have had often smell like that. I blame the exhaust back boxes which get covered in road and tyre debris.
But worth checking for obvious coolant and oil leaks.

This has got to be the ultimate in Porsche Paranoia. Everything feels and goes fine. All levels are good. The car isn't hot by temperature measurement but smells hot. Sometimes it's nice to relax and just drive the car.

This ^^^^^^^^^^

Edit : Interestingly I haven`t noticed it on the turbo I have recently bought, but then the silencers are not directly in line with the rear wheels

Its the protective coating/wax Porsche apply in the engine bay/underside of the car.

Normal.
