I think I have decided to try something different probably a 996 So I just wanted a few opinions on what I should be asking for my 930.The car is a 1985 4 speed with 109k on the clock with full documentation from new. As you can see from the photo it is more or less a total Ruf look a like, with ruf alloys, wing mirrors bumpers even down to the the Ruf steering wheel. It has had some engine work proffesionaly done including oversized intercooler-big Turbo -Variable boost. It also has a stainless single outlet exhaust. I recently had the gearbox re-built (replaced 2 and 3 synchros) and also had a full engine set up. It now runs in excess of 300bhp with more if you turn the boost up(incidently I think standard the car has plenty). The car drives cleanly and smoothly in all gears as I say I am thinking of selling but not really sure.

Cheers

Steve

I would certainly keep that car, you'd probably get bored of a 996 pretty quickly after the 930

Thats one good looking car. I also think you'd not enjoy the 996.

Go with Motec and cams, and get yourself nearer 500bhp

Tricky - it's not an original 930 and most people who want these cars nowadays seem to want originality.

Just IMHO you understand and it woulbe intersting tl see what the trade vallues it at, but I guess that a standard RHD car is between £15k and £18k (£25k for a really low mileage car). Yours might sell within that range or may not sell at all - it all depends on who's in the market for what when you come to sell it.

It is fitted with group B cams and I'm informed will run over 400 bhp on full boost .(scary stuff)

Now people, don't start likening me to Dom here, but have you considered a 993? Might be the balance between your 930 and the "tame" 996?

Or (since Dom's not here) how about a 964RS?

if I'm honest with myself, my reason for going onto a 996 is because I realised I can afford a newer car. No problems with a 993 though. So I reckon 37k budget what's reccomended

Oooh, that's perilously close to LHD 993 RS money, though a car like that may need a fair bit of money to get it tip top again.

You can pick up a RHD widebody car for that though easy (like a 2S or 4S), or a very tasty LHD 993TT.

I've had a 4S (awesome car) and now drive a 2(also wonderful) and if i had 35k to throw at a daily driver i could think of nothing better than a LHD 993TT.

For a weekender, how about a speedster? not a 964, but a proper G50 speedster?

Just some ideas...

It is only a weekender so I think I will have another look around you've got me thinking.

your car looks great, but when you've got that money burning a hole ...... i'd go for a 993cs, or maybe just a great 993c2 then spend the money you save changing it a little (modifications) as thats what it looks like you enjoy (if your current car is anything to go by)! (heard of a guy who turned a standard c2 to 319bhp by fabspeed exhaust-manifold-de cat, new chip, and induction kit(that sounds optimistic but 300 with a lighter interior....hmmh))

ps. am a s..t-bag at drivin left hookers !

Must say I,ve looked at one or two 993 and I suppose I am starting to lean towards a them. In essence I want something that doesn't look like a daily runner and something that is quick and reliable. I am becoming a little paranoid about the 996 RMS issues so 993 might be the way forward.I have previously owned TVR,s and to be honest the 996 issues are dissapointing considering I changed marques because of relability. I suppose though comparitively 996's are still a reasonable gamble.
