Hi there - a few months ago, I bought a Boxster (52 reg with 72,000 miles). Not had a Porsche before, so was looking to ask around for some suggestions/recommendations as to where might be a good place to get the car serviced in the Surrey area ? (or, if not, the wider S/SE England area) ? And does anyone have a view on official servicing vs indy servicing ? Responses/thoughts appreciated.

Car seems generally ok (touch wood), but I would like to do a Major Service and have the car checked out (car was owned by an older chap who kept it in his garage and didn't do many miles, but had admittedly lost interest in servicing it over the last couple of years).

Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to things worth my having the garage check based on their own experiences or knowledge, appreciate that too.

Many thanks.

Chris

The closest location to Surrey I can think of, M & G Autos Ltd just in Battersea. I've never used them but one of my close friends services her boxster there, she was quite happy. Also everytime, I drive near them, there are some great looking air-cooled 911's being serviced so I guess they could be safe? smile

If you can afford ,I would advise you go to for a major service at a near OPC. Get all the check-list from them that additionally what the car might require in the future and then find a closer/long term indy who already has a good porsche hands-on experience. (you might also check the previous MOT places that car been through, if they already worked on the car that might be useful?).

As you have been warned, anything beyond minor service at OPC, is just pure madness though be careful hehe

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.

Looks like GT One (Chertsey) gets quite a few plaudits - I'll have a look and also at some of the other suggestions.

I would also look at Northway near Reading, it's a little further to go but i've always been happy with the service and attention to detail when my 986 goes for servicing (and i live in Surrey!)
