Had a great day. Car ran like a dream. It was the first time I had max'd it since I finished with this phase of mods. I will post some details later.

I didn't go for VMAX in the morning as I was checking the mapping etc... Wanted to makesure I got a few runs complete without incident (plus I have a long weekend away this weekend, no car would be bad...).

In the afternoon, with the timing equipment moved fwd I was seening 175mph, I guess in the morning it would have been 185ish. I have a great speedo photo which i'll post. I didn't remap to 1.2bar in the end as verymuch need to be at my own Birthday do this weekend which requires a car with all head studs in place....

Had some fun racing Andy in his GT2 thingie and MOD500 amungst others....

UV,

There was very little difference in speed morning vs afternoon. The extra 100m makes little difference to speed, but assisted greatly in braking.

I did 195mph in the morning and just managed to scrape the 196mph in the afternoon.

Whilst I used the run-off areas on most runs for braking, just for fun I did try and make the corner once, which I managed after a 193mph run, though the pads changed colour from yellow to white as a result!

Sorry to hear that there were actually some porker reliability issues at this VMax - reading between the lines it sounds like both Daz and Der had some problems? Wasn't the Porsche VMax record untarnished by such ennuis up until now?

Anyway - I assume that they got you home OK so not overly dramatic. Wish I could have been there to play too - am dead jealous. Unfortunately a delightful work trip to Angola beckons instead...

To be honest I was carrying much more speed into the straight in the morning. In the afternoon I was trying to do as many head-heads from 2nd gear rolling starts. That being said, 100 meters at 180ish mph is comically short to attempt accumulating more speed especially when , as you say, it very much helps braking...

Do we know what the wind was doing on the day?

A few 180's and lots of 179 on the board. Speedo was showing about 3 or 4 mph higher.

DAZ

The board showed 180, and the digital speedo said 183 on one of the runs where I was lucky enough to passenger Daz.

We pulled up at the start line near the end of the day (in either Guy's or Henry's GT2 I think it was) and Tiff shouted over to us, "It's late in the day, and still the Porches are going round and around"........meaning that the Porkers were strong and reliable.

Having said that, no Porsche is invincible. The front splitter fell off mine and needed screwing back on (I blame speed bumps) and Daz and DeR had problems this time.

I was passenger at the time - with a rolling 2nd gear start after the bend the M5 just had the RS at the end of the straight, can't remember the speeds - wasn't much in it though.

Many thanks for the ride jonny - the RS is an awesome tool and the noise!!! wow.... i have a new car to aspire to after the elise

Well.......we were neck and neck until about 2/3 the way down the longest straight, then the M5 pulled out a small lead....basically better aero I reckon. It was great fun racing though.

PS.....I murdered the M5 on the twisty section!!

(OK....Adam had a car full of passengers and my car IS supposed to be a track slag).
