Ideas for weekend fun in a Porsche

Hi all, so I've been having fun with my recently purchased 997.2 Cab. Driving on various roads with hood down when possible.

I'm starting to get bored of this and the local roads as I go on them so often!

Any ideas for more fun around the West London/Heathrow area. I've heard of people taking cars on track days, air fields, etc and would like to know more.

Also do I need special insurance, etc to take the car on one of these? Really would like to push the car a bit in Sports Plus and try it the Launch Control.

If you've never done a track day, I would look at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone, where you can get a taster in your own car for £175.

Depending your annual mileage, Henderson Taylor include 6 track days per year.

Otherwise, you should get insurance just in case.

It's with an instructor...you get 90 mins in the car one on one. I've done it twice in my 997 GTS with the PCGB 997 Register.

The second instructor I had also works privately and will do a day of advanced/fast road driving in your car. Quite tempted by that myself.

Since you've got the whole weekend drive a bit further. There are no good roads in your area!

Wales is less than two hours down the M4.

M48 across the old Severn Bridge, through Chepstow, and onto the B4235 towards Usk and the Beacons...plenty of great driving roads..

When I lived in Reading and wanted to take my Caterham for a spin, the route started at M4 J12, Aldermaston Wharf, Aldermaston, Overton, Stoke Charity, New Alresford, Upton Grey, Hartney Whitney. Takes about 1.5 - 2 hours with some challenging roads. A few good pubs along the way if you want to make a day of it.

Thanks mate, finally did this route (or at least some of it) today and it's superb, some brilliant roads to drive on and nice views too. You were right about the pubs, great if you're the passenger!

Take wife or girlfriend to hotel for weekend in the Porsche. Park car, spend weekend in the hotel and return home in the Porsche on the Sunday. :-)
