Which tyres?

Hi All

Just put the 996 in for a service and I need new tyres all round. The garage is recommending Pirelli as they say they are the best/grippiest (i.e. softer compound). I had always heard that the Michelin's were the best all round tyre as between grippyness, wear/longevity and performance in the wet.

What's the general consensus? Any recommendations for the actual tyre name/model greatly appreciated!

Also, am tempted to order online and have delivered to the garage as I think the garage is putting a bit of a mark-up on based on £600 fitted for the Pirellis.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports (if you can still get them), far better than P Zeros & PS2s...

Either of the two Michelin options above are good (currently running PS2's).

Pirelli's aren't bad in the dry, but were awful in the wet on my 996.

Had Pirellis on mine and moved to PS2's out of the two prefer the Ps2's

Do check out the new PS4 as well - supposed to be very good tyre in the same vein as the PSS.

Also no reason not to consider the PS Cup 2 if you're going to go near a track or two - obviously superb in the dry, but with much more tread/wet weather capability than the cup1.

Pretty much nothing apart from PS2's I've found N rated that'll fit my C2 5 spoke 18" wheels...

So, i've decided to go down the route of the Cup2's as it's now my sunny day toy!

I don't think Super Sports will fit. I would touch PS3 or PS4.

PS4s on mine (they also do a 275/35 R8 rear, by the way).

Excellent tyre (way better than my old N-rated Pirellis).
