Porsche carrera 4s broken down help please
Discussion
Hello guys,
Got a problem with my 3.4 996 which broke down on the motorway last weekend with a sudden shudder and oil light flashing and immediately stalled on the hard shoulder as I pulled up within seconds of this happening.
I knew it wasn't knocking as a puff of smoke came out when it cut out so I did start it up again with a quick on and off and there's loads of smoke coming out of the engine bay and car shakes when running.
What do the gurus think this could be thanks

Thank you for your reply, I was thinking the same at first but as the car does start up but smokes heavily I presume head gasket but now new findings from the garage shows a hole in the top of the crank case near starter motor but I can't seem to fathom out how this is possible as there were no signs before the break down and would the engine not knock like a diesel out of hell

Went to see the car engine part stripped and I've just realised something whilst driving back home last night and after seeing this crank case with two rods being smashed up and both being seized or Locked up by the crank and this is not how I'd described it when it had broken down as I started it again l just a puff of smoke. The engine wasn't knocking and still able to start it twice without any rattles or bangs so what's going on here looks like someone's been turning it over and over and over as there's no way this was seized when I left it at the garage.
Someone tell me I'm stupid and haven't got a clue what I'm blabbering on about regarding the images and how I described the car to been able to be start twice without out knocking or seizure and now it looks like the Rods would never allow the engine to even turn?.

An engine that's just thrown a rod and punched a hole in the case would do this.Got a problem with my 3.4 996 which broke down on the motorway last weekend with a sudden shudder and oil light flashing and immediately stalled on the hard shoulder as I pulled up within seconds of this happening.

So explain how they caused the damage?
It's fooooooked
well if they car was turning over and starting how would you explain the rods being trapped in the crank? That's my question and yes it's foooked so there's no way I left it with the garage like this as there's no way on earth that was starting in that condition so I'm assuming they've started it over and over and over It's fooooooked
no other way bgunn said:

knock the hell out of everything?.
The car was still starting with no noise knocking banging clanking nothing so this is definitely sabotage but I have no proof

All it was doing was pouring out with white smoke after I broke down smdnot started up again with no seizure so someone said being a c*** from what I can see

Your end broke down and had a hole in the crank case. Maybe it could turn over but it clearly had some serious internal damage to cause the hole. A tough thing to happen but I can't see why you are trying to blame the garage for what was already a damaged engine when you took it in.
i just cannot fathom out how it got to that stage of the rods being trapped in the crank of the car was starting and running. I'm a mechanic by trade and do know when an engine has goosed it but to come to this stage takes a lot of beating and I definitely know it was still starting but looking at the pict rods is telling me otherwise which is why I'm shocked.A very unlucky event for you Micky and no doubt a bit of a shock. From what you said, it ceased to be an engine before it got to the hard shoulder.
If the garage tried starting the engine or just turning it over, then any extra damage they caused is not significant because your engine was already fubared, even if it used to turn over when you left it there.
As mentioned, tree ... barking ...
May I ask if you are familiar with all the engine threads on here?
If not, get the coffee on and catch up on what to do next regarding a replacement. There are a few options but sadly no cheap fix.

as it was still starting but no proof so can't say out to them evil barstuards knew it was just a gasket job as the engine wasn't seized at all
