On the surface it does seem a bit ridiculous, but what did that RM Sotheby's GT2 sell for £1.8M or something daft. So it only equates to around 1.5% of the total car value. I'm sure in general terms most wheels for cars are worth more than 1.5%. Take a 997.1GT3 as an example:
Around £70K and a set of GT3 wheels go for around 2-2.5K which is more like 3-4% of the total car value.

Caveat
If these wheels are an off the shelf buy then ignore the above. I was purely thinking that the only genuine 993GT2 wheels will be those fitted to car plus the odd set??

Doesn't seem unreasonable if they're NLA. Probably a degree of kite flying on the part of the vendor, but as Rich says, if you've got a 993 GT2 that's on BBS wheels and you want a set of OE mag Speedlines, your options are probably limited.

The same now applies to 964 RS mag wheels, the rears have been NLA for at least 6 years now, hence when sets come to the market, they're not cheap :

Of course you can most likely buy either set of wheels new from Freisinger, but the open wallet surgery WILL be painful .....

When I was looking for original 11 & 9 X 15 Fuchs for my 2.8 RSR five years ago they were crazy money for what were nearly 40 year old wheels. Most of which had been bent, cracked and welded.
