HELP! C4S Cab Vs 996 Turbo
Discussion
Currently have a 1999 996 C4 with aero kit (On Profile) but am pondering on either of the two. Any ideas, comments, favourites or reasons of why not to choose one. I can purchase both of the cars for around the 60K bracket with all the trimmings such as heated seats sat nav etc but an stuck.
any thoughts would be appreciated Cheers!

I think it depends on how much you like opentop motoring ??
Despite what Thunderfoot said, we have plenty open roofdown days in this country, it doesn't have to be 80 degrees + to have the roof down.
If your into your trackdays on the other hand, then i think the turbo is for you. With the ever growing onslaught of cameras/traps, i think these are fast becoming one of the only ways to enjoy the Turbo's full experience.
I don't think the depreciation will be THAT different, as i believe that the widebody Cabs will be sort after for some time to come yet.
I am luky enough to have the Turbo Cab, but believe it or not, wish i'd just went for the C4S Cab, and saved the money !!

Witch,
Yea your absolutely right the two year itch is bang on, there is nothing wrong with the car i have car in fact i love it but a colleague has a turbo and it just gets me thinking (shall I ,Shant I) and also I have a neighbour who has a C4S Cab which looks equally as nice. have been looking around for a while and for the money I thought YES lets change (After much pursueding of the missus) it is now a decision i'll have to make.

I had a C4S Coupe then changed for a Turbo.
I only had the 4S for 6 weeks...I just HAD to have a Turbo !
Sometimes I do miss the 4S, while its slower it feels a little more agile & delicate than the Turbo - not sure if this makes sense to anyone ? Having said that I would assume the Cab C4S handles differently to the coupe being heavier ?
If I went back to an open top Porsche it would be back to a new Boxster S, I just feel that a 911 has to be a coupe....possibly a slightly old fashioned opinon but hey.

rich1231 did a similar thing.
I'd suggest driving a turbo. Unless you are really into openair motoring there won't be a question to answer once you have.

Sorry can't give any non biased opinion, turbos rock!!

Funny you should say that, as I was talking to an OPC salesman over the weekend. I mentioned that I was considering a 996TT later in the year, however he raved on about the C4S, insisting that it is a far superior drive, both ability (obviously not outright speed) and feel.
The Turbo was the more expensive of the two options too, so he obviously wasnt just trying to make more money.
I guess that until you have had a good test drive in both, you wont know which one floats your boat!
If open top motoring is your bag then save a shed load of money and go for the Boxster S. If you want a drivers car go for the turbo (well actually go for a GT3, but lets not get into that).
I find it strange that the C4S is said to be a better drive. Doesn't it have the same running gear as the turbo, but without a turbo??
One is trying to be a turbo, the other IS a turbo.
I know it's horses for courses and all that, but I really don't see the choice.
