I ve had lots of problems with my Cayenne Diesel S. I ordered the car in December 2015 but didn't get it until September 2016 as there were delays and then they upgraded the PCM with Apple car play so i didn't want the old technology and then the car got delayed further because Porsche couldnt get the new PCM units! Allegedly my car was built and in a compound in germany whilst they awaited the units which took about 2 months.

Since owning the car, I have had issues with the PCM including calls being dropped, system randomly changing between apple car play and normal bluetooth, system shutting down for a minute or so and then re initialising, music and radio playing at the same time when selected through apple car play, parking sensors randomly going off at 60 MPH when driving down the dual carriageway at night, a lose seat , aggressive juddering when manoeuvring at low speeds and a knocking noise from the rear when at slow speeds.

I called Porsche Leeds and they told me to go to my local dealer in bournemouth and speak to Porsche GB about it. I called Porsche GB and they said they would come back to me but never returned my calls. I got my local dealer to look at the car and initialy they said nothing was wrong. I then took the car back and they said they had sorted the issues with a software upgrade and then found the fault with the seat! the car then went back for a third time and after suggesting to Porsche Leeds that if I had any more issues with the vehicle I would reject it, they finally got involved and liaised with the dealer to get it fixed.

Since the last visit to my local dealer in Bournemouth (Who were excellent to be fair - cant recommend enough) I have had more problems and I told OPC Leeds that I was rejecting the vehicle and asked them to collect it. To cut a long story short, they denied rejection and used a technicality that under the consumer rights act that I had to give them the opportunity to fix as the supplying dealer even though they instructed me to take it Bournemouth. After professional advice and correspondence, I am now in a position where i have been 5 weeks without my car and have had to hire alternative transport whilst enduring costs and complete dissatisfaction...... the shame is that this was a bit of a dream car for me and my first foray into Porsche after having several Mercedes, BMW's, Audi's and Range Rovers. I am supposedly getting the car back in the next couple of days, but the experience has been dreadful and i will never ever purchase another car from JCT 600 (OPC Leeds) after the way they have treated me.

Has anyone else experienced similar and does anyone have any suggestions? I love the car and its awesome when you ignore the issues, but I feel like i have got a "Friday Afternoon Car" and have lost all faith in it and Porsche in general. Shame really, as I love the cars they make and my brother has had a few Porsches and has always been looked after really well.

Sorry for the long post and any help or advice appreciated.......

Sorry to hear this and can't really help with specifics (I have an S Diesel myself and love it) but if you can't get a satisfactory outcome with OPC Leeds or Porsche GB get the SMMT involved.

https://www.themotorombudsman.org/consumers

First thing I would do is put EVERYTHING in writing...if you haven't already I'd send an e-mail with the timeline of events.

Mate of mine was having issues with an Audi he owned......local dealer was being less than helpful. As soon as he got the SMMT involved Audi sorted things out.

Having two OPC's involved clearly not a help.

This is quite normal especially with cold weather. 4wd cars are prone to it, some of your past 4x4's may not have done this such as a Range Rover but my Cayenne S does it, even the 911 and the GT4 do. My Dad's GLC Merc also does it. It seems to happen more on cars with either four wheel drive or a sporty set up.

If yours is like mine, its when on hard lock. I really wouldn't worry about it. Good luck in sorting everything else but for what its worth, I'm on my second Cayenne and they've been faultless, touch wood.

I'm finally getting it back tomorrow so hopefull that they have sorted everything out!
To be fair their service guy was OK, but the experience from a consumer point of view once you've taken delivery was shocking, would keep well clear of them in the future.

If it's like mine it is when first starting up, reversing up a slope and driving down a hill. Annoying as hell and the last 10 cars I've done the same thing in have never done it. Porsche say it's normal. It isn't.

However, if it is full lock manouvers with the diff locked, it is normal.

Oh, and parking sensors going off..... again, only had it in my cayenne. Normally below 20mph. Not sure when they are meant to be inactive though. It seams high dust levels are most of my cause

Sorry to hear of your issues.

Had similar two years ago with a 64 plate Cayenne 3.0D. issue was simple (i thought). if it rained really heavily water got into the cabin. basically the drivers footwell would become a mini swimming pool.

3 separate visits to the not quite so local (but supplying OPC) each of at least 1 week duration involving a lot of driving back n forth on my own time. Outcome? after 3rd visit ....rained.......swimming pool back.

Sold the car back to the OPC. eventually got (after fighting) a reasonable price for it. god knows what they did with it, probably just sold it on.

I really loved the car and it was awesome in every other respect but the whole experience left me with a bitter taste of OPC's and also Porsche Cars GB who got involved but were completely useless to the point of being arrogant. Given the hoops you jump through to even be allowed to buy their cars in the first place I honestly think they are in danger of turning people away from them. Sad thing is there is always a steady steam of buyers willing to part with money. Nice business model. downside is there are more and more stories of people getting treated badly pre and post sale.

Like you i've only ever had "volume" cars before from BMW, Audi and after the Cayenne I went and bought a new X5. Nowhere near the sense of occasion when you drive it but in the 18 months we've had it hasn't missed a beat and the BMW dealers have all been excellent. Makes me wonder why i'd ever go back to Porsche but i'm now contemplating selling our other car and going for a new Panamera...and once again....I'm already being given the run around by dealers trying to get a build slot and starting to wonder why i'm even bothering.

I feel your pain! Got the car back this morning and was quite excited after not having it for almost 6 weeks!!! And inspected thoroughly to make sure ok only to find small specs of white paint over several panels and the sunroof blind damaged....... they also said it would be fully Valeted and although clean I think someone had just thrown a bucket of water over it and blown an airline around the inside! The PCM module which was the main problem is smeared in greasy fingerprints.....
Oh well, the joys of buying and owning a high value luxury brand car.

Yup...makes you wonder why you bother but they do make fantastic cars. I still haven't pulled the trigger on the new Panamera and the only thing stopping me is the bad experience pre/post sales last time and this time around sales process is no better and i just keep thinking WTF am i doing, may as well go and buy a decent BMW or Merc, spend less, get better service and not feel like my business isn't needed or valued.

I have to say the issues I stated above are just irritations with an otherwise fantastic car. I did have a CEL that would come back a week after each OPC visit. Ultimately, it turned out to be a pin broken in the front wiring loom. The OPC wanted to fix the pin, which I would have been fine with. Porsche US insisted on a new wiring loom. They gave me a Macan GTS for a week while I waited. So, no complaints with service.

Bad news about your Cayenne. My experince with OPC Leeds aint good either. I don't understand the attitude with OPC Leeds. They used to have one of the best reputations anywhere but not anymore.

I have a Cayenne Diesel S that I bought new last December. I went to OPC Leeds to buy the car but it was such a poor experince that I cancelled and went to OPC Cambridge and bought from them instead. The car is very good. So far no issues except peeling wheel centre caps - I need to see if this can be fixed under warranty.
As for your issues, its looks like a car that has not been PDI properly.
1st the noise fron the steering - this is very common on Porsche. All Porsche cars (and some other marques) use Ackermans steering (google it) one of the reasons they use it because its gives good feedback. The rubble / knocking noise is actually a combination of the ackermans steering geometary and cold tyres on the road surface. Once the tyre gets warm, more flex and the noise stops. On some very sporty Porsche cars its terrible. Do you have the 21in rims (I do) its pretty bad on those. However, if you say you have this on the rear axel as well, its needs checking.
2nd the parking sensors - I've had this as well. Wash the sensors with normal car shampoo and dry with a towel. During PDI some protective film they put around the cars is not removed properly and can cause the sensors to mis-read. If you still have the problem, its a warranty issue.
PCM - Its sounds like you have the upgrade version. I dont have apple carplay. I have no issues other than a few bluetooth drop-outs but no more than my previous BMW.
If you cannot reject the car, insist on a full PDI with a report.
Good luck

Also discovered that they had done almost 100 miles in it and i couldn't tell as they had switched of the Porsche Connect tracking...... Apparently they needed to do that to test it properly!!!! Also apparently the paint and damage was nothing to do with them! I give up.....
