993 - 18" wheels and/or lower suspension?
Discussion
Pete, they don't fit on mine with the 285...unfortunately......I had these on my 2002 996 a good looking wheel and light as well.
Quite a few of the guys stateside on Rennlist have these fitted to narrow bodied 993....worth asking there, but i would expect they have gone for the 265 fitment.

VS,
I have 18" Gemballa's on my 993 Cab with 285's on the back. The only issue was making sure the offset was spot on. Don't know what this was as Mark at Stuttgart Connection sorted it all out for me (I'm sure he would be happy to help if you called him).
So, yes they will fit, but you need the correct offset.

Also, anyone got Eibach or H&R springs on their 993? Comments?

I have TechArt springs on mine (I think these are made by H&R) even with 265`s and the RS geometery settings, there is only a thumbs width between the inner-arch lip and tyre wall.
The look is right and the ride is the acceptable side of harsh.
Dont forget to fit the steering rack brace!

Dave,
Yeah, i'll order the brace from Gert as soon as i have decided on the wheels.
Are you anywhere near Wokingham? Would love to have a look if poss (or have you got a picture of the car handy)?

E-mail me through my profile, I`m just the other side of Bracknell for you. My pictures don`t show you the gap between arch and tyre because of the shadow...
And the ride is not all that bad, dont forget Porsche did offer 18" wheels through the Tequipment range. I doubt that they would have done this if it was that diabolical.
Couldn't agree with you any more my old 993 was bought with 18"s on I hated it and changed it back to 17"s - the handling was tranformed.
Mt turbo has 18"s on it and even with firmer suspension it still tramlines like billio - better now that its been aligned - but still not great on the country roads where I live.
Don't do it, it'll handle like a dog. Perhaps Porsche may know best!

I prefer the look of the normal 17s on my 993. However I'm sure I read that the 2002 996 18 inch wheels were phenomenally light, not just for an OEM wheel but even compared to expensive aftermarket wheels.
Surely reduced unsprung weight would be good for handling? The solid spoke 993 wheels weigh a ton, IIRC...
