SPH-DA120 in 04 Cayenne Turbo with Bose is buggy
Discussion
So a couple of years or so back I ditched the horrible PCM and updated the incar experience with the base CarPlay pioneer unit SPH DA120. Dynamic Sounds in Wandsworth fitted it, further to a recommendation I found in another thread here. It's great, but living with it for a while has exposed a few issues I am hoping PH members can help me resolve.
My wife and I both use iPhone 6S, before that we had 5's and 4's. When we plug in to the lightning connector, the phone picks up on the Pioneer, we can use Spotify, but often no sound. This is ad hoc - sometimes it works first time, sometimes it never works. Pioneer software is up to date.
I also noticed the screen switches itself on when I have switched off, and when the car is at rest with key in ignition, engine off. No idea why it does this.
I have lost the ability to use all the steering wheel button functions - most irritatingly to set the clock when summer time kicks in. Phone buttons don't work, but scroll and volume do and I can navigate various menus. I get the clock set when I visit my local Indy for maintenance...
I can't turn the volume down on Apple maps. It seems to have a setting irrespective of main volume settings, and it's a nightmare if my young kids are napping on long trips and the instructions blare out.
Overall, much better than the stock pcm unit in every way, brings car experience bang up to date - when it works that is. The above issues mean i haven't really got the experience I was hoping for though.
If any others with this unit have encountered the same issues and fixed them, would appreciate some advice.
