Considering getting a 991 Turbo and not sure which is the better option?

A Gen 2 Turbo S is too expensive but looking at either a Gen 1 S or Gen 2 non S, what are peoples views as too which is the best one to go for?

I've just changed from gen 1 Turbo to gen 2 Turbo S and the biggest difference is the ride quality, they are worlds apart and I wish I'd changed earlier. That was my only complaint with the gen 1 Turbo.

I'm guessing the improved ride quality is down to the PDDC and the ceramic brakes so I would suggest trying both vehicles.

With regards to performance I don't think you will be disappointed with the performance of the standard Turbo but my advice would be go for the gen 1 S or try and find a gen 2 with PDDC.

OP, considering a similar move myself.

TP - many thanks for the feedback, very useful with you having owned both. Can I ask which sound system you went with on the gen 2?

I opted for Burmester in the Gen 2. I haven't really spent enough time playing with the setup to have a definitive opinion but the Burmester is definitely better than the Bose, whether it's worth the extra i'm not sure yet. Once I get round to it I will try it with a proper digital input and report back!

One other thing to consider is the gen 1 cars do not have an option for a multi function steering wheel with paddles but on the gen 2 you can, for me this is a big improvement especially if you intend to use as a daily
