Has anyone had any success sourcing parts direct from Germany and if so is it really cost effective.

Not done it with Porsche parts, but I did save a lot sourcing new air springs for an Audi Allroad from Germany. I have also used eBay.de for VW parts, for my former 65 Beetle and current 91 mk2 Golf GTI - can be good for hard to find second hand bits and new old stock that is no longer available.

Euro rate is not great at the moment, but while we remain in the EU there's no duty, so carriage is the main extra cost.

Thanks Pete, wondering whether it's cheaper to go to Porsche main dealers or other suppliers for parts.

Sourcing a lot of parts from Germany and other places in Europe. Savings of up to 50% to be made even with the rubbish FX rate. Same for a BMW M3 of mine too. Google is your friend - just search for the specific part number on google.de - you'd be surprised at what gets thrown out. Latest - power steering return line for a 928 GTS - Porsche Reading Trade with a hefty discount - £340 - FVD Brombacher new old stock - £95 delivered to my door, proudly stating Made in W. Germany on the label...

Sourced loads of suspension parts for my 993 from Europe. Massive savings for TRW parts compared to OPC/third party sellers here. No issues whatsoever
