Which porker to get?
Discussion
I currently own a 2000 boxster S which I am sort of very happy with. Coming back to the UK I wanted a loud...ish, fast...ish car, so I bought a 1978 MGB roadster!.....as I had a GT when a lad and felt that's what I wanted again but this time a rag top, Loved the sound but the windscreen hit me mid forehead! So I bought a Chim, loved the noise, acceleration, its "presence" BUT from the front I thought it just looked like an MGB on steroids, so they both went and bought the Boxster. Nice n comfy, quick but a bit dare I say it, blandish. Theres no alternative that I like. I don't like Z3/4, TT too small, s2000 maybe, Nissan nah, so its looking like I will stay within the Porsche world.
So am looking at changing to a 911, (964 etc). I reckon My Porker is worth around 6k. FSH 65k miles and clean, so if I bung in another 10k ish, (anymore and er indoors will ..........you know), so whaddya reckon. I do about 2000 miles a year max closer to 1500 TBH, I'll keep it for maybe 2/3 years and move to something else, maybe a trip over to frogland as I have relatives in Brittany. Has to be a soft top as I have 2 reg cars for whatever.
Cheers Mike, (if you think of another vehicle that a Porsche don't be afraid).

Go try this out. You'll have more fun in this than any 911 at a similar price.

Is the engine in these RS60s immune to the troubles other Boxsters have?https://rpmtechnik.co.uk/sales/vehicle/boxster-rs6...

I can speak from experience. I had my RS60 for almost 6 years and did 60,000 miles in it. I gave the engine time to warm up and cool down, and it saw 7000rpm on almost every journey. I also changed the oil every 6 months. I did not have a single problem in 6 years and 60k miles. A technician who worked on my car said the RS60s were made nearer the end of the production cycle so most of the engine issues had been resolved by then. My real world experience backs that up 100%. In fact I'd be happy to buy another at some point. Don't let fear get in the way of your enjoyment of life. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
