So originally I was looking to get either a 991.1 Turbo S or 991.2 Turbo, but having studied various articles and YouTube video's have decided to go for a 991.2 Turbo S.

What are the essential options given the car already has a good spec. from the point of daily use and resale?

Of the various options I went for the three I am most glad for, in order of gladness:

1) Glass sunroof. It lifts the interior massively, and is great for sunny European jaunts.

2) Front axle lift. Unnecessary most of the time but takes all of the stress out of speed humps, steep car park entrances, etc.

3). Burmester. There is too much road noise in the car for this to be an essential, but it really is quite good.

I have no idea about what helps for resale. Given the order times, I suspect anything will shift. Residuals are seriously strong too.

They come with just about all options you need, anything over standard spec is personal.

Currently have a 991.2 turbo S and have had various turbos from previous models. I have never encountered a serious ground clearance problems with any of them save 997 GT2 and see no need for lift. The 991 front spoiler is pneumatic retractable which means that generally the lowest point is likely to be brake ducts, which can be treated as sacrificial.

Lane change assist is surprisingly useful in covering blind spots and I would spec again, albeit it is not always available.

The camera based speed limit indicator is OK but can miss gantry signs.

My car is Graphite blue so I had some cosmetics like side skirts, rear apron, rear intake, model delete.

Glass roof is a personal thing, I had it on a previous 991 and didn’t like it so would not spec again.

Saw a graphite blue one at Silverstone last week, stunning in the sun.

You don't spec a £160k turbo new for some one else, that's the nice thing about buying new and having £160k to spend, spec it for you and enjoy the car, it will drop £30k in 6 months any way.

Just remember you can't mod the ecu yet which was one of the main reasons why I went for gen 1.

Not sure you would want to mod the ECU on the latest turbo, your warranty would be toast..... More performance is available with Techart's Techtronic, a piggyback ECU which comes with its own (engine/gearbox) warranty and can easily be removed, gives the new S 640PS/880NM.

Would you trust Techart with your new 991.2 turbo S?

Why not ?

They also do a 720PS/920NM kit with bigger VTGs, brings the 0-300kph down to about 23s for about £35K

I've never dealt with Techart but I hear the new 991.2 turbo S is "savage" out of the box. I also hear ithe 991.2 turbo S' VTGS are pretty sophisticated in terms of material technology so it would be a brave man to swap these out for Techart VTGS? This is from a friend who has a 997.1 turbo with a built 3.8 engine putting out 650hp!

I'm sure I read a thread on Rennlist with you having lots of issue with larger VTGS above 700hp so how will Techart be better in this respect? I also hear Porsche wanted 700hp for their new GT2 RS but couldn't get the VTGS to work at this level consistently. Porsche have installed a water spray system for the new 991 GT2 RS like the old WRC rally cars for when things over heat on track even at 650 bhp!

The 640PS/880NM is just a piggy back ECU so it just massages a bit more boost/timing/fuelling out of your stock motor when you hit the overboost button, I don't think it gives you real power ie you won't be producing 640PS at 7000rpm in 6th but it will no doubt make the S even peppier in normal driving.
Similarly the 720PS kit will not produce 720PS at maximum speed because the intercooling will not be sufficient but up to 300kph it looks pretty fun....
Techart are one of the world's best Porsche tuners, the body kits are not to everyone's taste but most of what they do is very high quality.

You'd have to be some driver to need to tweak the performance of a 991.2 Turbo S.
