Looking at getting back into a Porsche. Any helpful advice would be great

Been said many times, but RUST. Danger areas include around screen, inner sills, door shuts / front of rear wheel arch. They all have it to some degree unless repaired - you just can't see it.
Seized heater boxes
Smoky engines in need of rebuild (top end at least).
Shrunken rubbers on doors / windows
Plus all the usual 30-40 year old car stuff.

I loved my first 3.2 (bought in 1992) but could not rediscover the love when I bought another one a few years. If felt old and heavy (but was comparing it to a 1970 911S which I also had which was fab). If I was getting back into an air cooled 911 I would either go older (I think the 911SC is still good value), or later (964). But we all like different things.
