Hi, have just joined the site today, so hello to all. Looking to buy a 996 Cabriolet, went to a dealer in Hatfield on Saturday and they're looking at 50k for a 2002/2003 model. Haven't got that budget, looking at 10K less, any idea what kind of year/mileage/spec that kind of money can buy? Can't find a Porsche dealership that has anything older than 2 years! Many thanks in advance to all of you who reply to my posting.

stunatto, I know of a very nice 996 cab about to come onto the market if you're interested (Its not mine!!!)

996 c2 cab, 2001 Y, 34k miles, manual, 6 cd stacker, tracker 1 immobiliser and porsche alarm, 18" GT sport alloys, silver/black (silver hardtop), 2 owners from new, FPSH, ruffled leather, sports exhaust.

However, It has just had a complete engine rebuild by Porsche GB & has effectively about 1000miles on it, this is all documented & warrantied by porsche.

I think when he advertises it in a few weeks he is looking for about 41k but might take a bit lower.

Welcome,
have just purchased a 996 C4 Cab. Had the same issues with Porsche main dealers only stocking newer cars. Got mine eventually from 911 Virgin. (Don't think they have any at the moment). Have a look at Portiacraft near Mill Hill, they have a couple in as do Cridfords in Surrey and Charles Ivey off Kings Road.

Regarding spec its up to you, they vary a lot in respect of what they have/have not. All UK cars should have factory hard top, the wind break was an option. Insurance companies may insist on a Tracker.

Happy hunting.

opc's usually only stock 2 year old cars as after 2 years the warrenty is up and most customers trade in. these cars will gain more profit than the older models so in the name of business they tend to stock the newer cars.

Only advice here is that you should consider spending a bit more and get a faceliftet 996 cab (i.e. after Nov - Dec 2001). It looks nicer, has a bit more power and has a glass rear window in the canvas roof which makes the standard hardtop redundant. Good luck hunting.
