Cayenne - 2011 Turbo or 2016 Diesel S

Hello All


Looking at getting a used Cayenne, and was wondering which people reckon feels better to drive, power etc?

Test drives never really tell me enough and I normally need to have a car for a few weeks before I feel I really know it

The MY16 Diesel S will cost more I know, so just looking at it from a driving pleasure/general ownership point of view. Car will be used for general family duties, plus the odd long trip and spirited drives every now and again up and down the coast etc

I believe the MY11 Turbo has 700nm, whereas the MY16 Diesel S has 850nm which is what is making me look at the diesel. If it were your choice, which would you take? Looking forward to opinions

I'd go for the S Diesel (as long as it's EU6). The same, if not better, real world performance for half the fuel costs.

Diesel S has got all the performance you will ever need in a car of the Cayenne's size.

2016 will be EU6 compliant and I'd definitely go for the newer car. If you can get one built after September it will have the newer PCM with Apple Car Play. The PCM itself is a massive step on with Apple Car Play a nice bonus.

Also the 2016 car will still have a decent chunk of full manufacturers warranty on it.

They are quite spec sensitive but you will also have much more choice with the Diesel S.

Don't discount the Euro5 car. They sound like a V8 muscle car. Whereas I'm told the Euro6 sounds nothing like it anymore, due to adblue and restrictions etc.

Just sold our 2014 facelift SD. What an amazing car - as above all the performance you need and 30-35mpg. Sounds like a V8 petrol and enough torque to move a house (or an A380!)

Sadly the TUrbo S Cayanne of a few years ago is slower than the BMW 40D (x35d bi TUrbo).
Let along big D X550DM

Ive just looked up this euro 6 thing on google and can't tell much apart from the fact it's the latest emission standard

Any reason in particular it's beneficial to have a Euro 6 (as opposed to 5) compliant car if I get a diesel ? (Ps I have moved from the UK to sunny Australia if that's if any relevance)

In Oz aren't most cars petrol ? In the UK and many other parts of Europe Euro 5 cars are going to get clobbered with much higher taxes over the next few years and I suspect in the medium term will pretty much be banned from built up areas.

Not for existing cars no they will not be clobbered. Buy s brand new one and then it might be different.

Get the petrol one or GTs they sound great the dahadaga doesn't.

Yes most people here haven't caught onto the diesel thing like in the U.K. and Europe. Only a handful of S Diesels for sale online right now.

I can appreciate the torque and associated benefits tho.

What is the stand on these diesel engined vehicles re tax etc here in the uk,thinking of getting a 2015 macan,are they euro 6 spec etc
