Hi my 996 tt is having problems... cosmic!

the spoiler will raise and lower manually but will not automatically - any ideas what it could be before I pay an OPC to sort it?

cheers

I trust that you have floored it! Yes officer, I was trying to fix my spoiler and thought I would get the wind suction to suck it up, 180mph should do it.

Does the onboard diagnostics report a "spoiler control failure"?

Might just be some dirt on the arms that move the spoiler up and down.

Hi there I had exactly the same problem a few months back and it was a fairly easy fix. Apparently the system can get it's knickers in a twist, if it doesn't know what height the spoiler is at, which is usually because there's dirt on the sensors. So if you open the rear boot lid and look at the right hand post that the spoiler is attached to, there's a piece of wire with a pair of small plugs one at the top and one at the bottom of the post. unplug them carefully and clean the small contacts with a switch lubricant/cleaner, then put them back. It took two attempts with mine to get them clean, but the problem went away and has never re-occurred.
