High mileage RUF 993TT with 490bhp - opinions
Discussion
Have a look at this:
http://tinyurl.com/5nsvo
Car has done 200,000km, but was "refreshed" by RUF (seats, steering wheel, 490hp engine, etc.) at 112,000km.
It's up for 40,000 euros (about £27,600).
Opinions?

An awful lot of money for a LHD car with what is 124k miles on it? I think you'd be better off adding 8/9k to your budget and getting a standard one with half the mileage.
A PHer sold a similar LHD, RUF modded car in Arena red a while ago with a lot less mileage on and if my memory serves me correctly he only got mid£30's for it.

Don't know if this one is still for sell, but maybe worth looking at?

Daz is right. The car was featured on pistonheads news. Good read. When I'm grown up I'd like to send my car to Ruf. Conversion is relatively good value.

Yep, i took half the pictures for that article. At the time i wasn't in a position to make the leap, but now i am at that "only live once" stage. Heck, i'll be 30 in a year, wouldn't it be nice to spend the next 12 months in a car like that?

Im looking as well ,, and it seems there are many poor examples out there
I am aiming at one of the "Rice Pudding Pullers"
as His Derness puts it , and then go see zer Good Dr R(well done on the nipper by the way Squire)
I have inherited an A8 for the next 8 month so no rush, but its not as easy to find a goodun as i thought .
Hmm apart from the Arena red one with 18,000km from new
now that is a beaut sport.

Von Sideways,
One of these days, the unthinkable seed of change may well push it's way into the first light of a new dawn of contemplation.
Obviously, should such an eventuality arise, few takers would care for the thing which, subconsciously, maintains the obsession.
I have been advised that only within the hallowed ranks of the PH legions, might exist the sort of worthy loon suitably bereft of the usual common sense or logic that might allow consideration further of carrying the torch beetleschwein.
The hope is, however, that following the latest hibernation, something finally worthwhile might emerge and I must restate my hope, having once before sampled proper beetle power, it is a surge of schnellerkessel worth exploiting...if you can!
(Btw, Marki - A8? Damn fine selection - which displacement?)

Hello Der its a 4.2 mitt alles a very very fine car it is , its my partners run about so i am going to use up the remainder of the lease while i try to track down my dream .
The hunt for Pork perfection will continue

seems good value considering how much £££ it would cost to get a genuine 490bhp from a standard car plus it's a Ruf! ie k24's,cams,air filter,mapping,exhaust,110cel cats, clutch, suspension, maybe engine rebuild to take extra power(valve guides etc).etc etc etc $$$$$ I've got a 993tt and have looked into the various costs of bringing the power up and the prices for conversions are not cheap ie 430-450ish £1-3k 450+ £7K upwards and that's before they've found and other worn parts on your car to be modified!! I feel it's so much cheaper if the cars got all the right bits allready, even an extra oil cooler could be over £1k once fitted plus vat etc etc
Yeah much much better fuel consumption,a whole lot more refined,a lot heavier too! needs upgrades to make a nice car.P.s my 965 had aftermarket headers & system, eletronic boost control(greddy),964n/a cams, bailey dump valve so it made 370bhp & 380lb torque at 0.9bar. To be honest 60mph to 140mph my 965 turbo 2 was quicker than my standard 993tt but that should change once 993tt is modded ie stage 1 ecu & 100cel cats. What's your views guy's.P.s the headers on my 965 saved a lot of weight so this helped make it sharp.Standard 993tt is fast once it get's going!
