PCGB Track Day - Brands Hatch 30th August

Just out of interest, is anyone from here going to the PCGB track day (evening) next week?

I'll be there in a silver 981 Cayman S.

Ah yeah, given past experiences I can imagine you'd be nervous! Do you know what the static noise levels are for the GT4?

Sadly not going to be at the Goodwood charity day this year as I'm on holiday then. Shame, as I had a great day at last years'.

Didn't get static tested at Blyton but I believe they average 102.

Question: Not sure whether the Dansk boxes on the C2 will be too noisy though?

Could anyone helpfully point me towards the details of how to pre-dB test my car before the track evening next Wednesday?

I have a dB meter downloaded to my phone so will do a pretest this weekend - just to be sure

...and does anyone have any recommendations as to an insurer for the car for the event - AIB have told me specifically that they don't cover this type of event

I wouldn't trust a phone app personally, but I have no idea how accurate they are. What I do know though is that the static test is done by sticking their microphone right at the end of the tailpipes, which I wouldn't much fancy doing with a modern smart phone.

The problem is that all the different tracks measure slightly differently - you really need to be tested AT BRANDS HATCH. To save you losing a packet, if you call up Brands in advance they'll let you attend a track day (car or bike) before the PCBG one and get static noise tested for free. On a day track day it would be at aprox 9.30am when most of the vehicles actually doing the day have already been tested. That way you'll know for sure whether you'd pass or not

As long as it is not pouring down I will jump down to spectate once i get home from work .i am only 10 minutes away. Be there at 7pm . Will come along in my 981 spyder .

There's a few guys from 911uk heading up to watch and have a chat. Providing the weathers ok, I'll be going up with a couple of other Porsche owners (997.1 and 997.2 turbos) as well....

I did, yeah (I'd already paid for it!). While doubtlessly slower than in the dry it was of course still good ol' fun. Interestingly I noise tested lower than previously at 99dB. No idea how or why.

I'd been hoping to go out for the final 10 minutes at the end, and just as I was heading for my car I noticed the red flags out. I hope whoever met with the armco at clearways wasn't too badly damaged.
