boxster 987 3.4s VS 996 Targa/cab

I'm looking to get back in to the world of Porsche and within my budget for toys . I can get either one of the above.

What are peoples general thoughts on the two cars , I expect the running costs to be the same ish.

I interested to see what people think?

fair enough, I'm curious though has anybody actually had bore scoring on a 3.4 gen 1 boxster or 996 3.6 in resent times???
