My previous car had the PVTS and I must say I have a few reservations about it.

I'm trying to figure out whether I want to use it on the car I am about to buy. It already has it fitted so it would just be the subscription charge but I'm happy to shell out on a different brand if it is better.

I gather that PVTS only uses GSM to track the vehicle which is very easily blocked. Tracker retrieve apparently uses VHF as well which is trickier to block.

Any thoughts or experiences appreciated.

Thanks

PVTS / PCC use GSM, GPS and driver card recognition.

The system is also the only Approved option for Extended Warranty.

Hi

The question was whether the higher level offerings from Tracker were better as they employ VHF as well as GSM, GPS etc

And I can't see how an extended warranty could be affected by ones choice of tracker.

Thanks

In respect that Porsche will not allow anything to be hardwired into the car.

I never knew that, thanks. I was planning to have an Autowatch Ghost installed, would that also nullify the warranty then??

They wouldn’t normally renew an extended warranty with it attached.

Actually I'm more concerned with the 2 year warranty it will come with as an approved used OPC car.

Fitting the Ghost would therefore nullify that two year warranty!

Fit one of these which won't have any warranty issues and arguably just as good if not better:

Interesting....in the vids it looks like the tracker company go out themselves to find the vehicle. Surely they can't provide this service nationally??

Make contact with them and ask. I have used them for a number of years and fortunately haven't had the need to track, but their service seems excellent. The fact that the tracker is battery operated means that it is ideal.
