Child seat in front passenger seat of 997.2
Discussion
My understanding is that the airbag switch is for fitting rear facing car seats, rather than for all children. As you say, I think it's normal for infants in front facing seats to be able to travel in the front seat without deactivating the airbag (mitigated by putting the front seat as far back as practical).
By the way, if you want 2 in the back including a rear facing seat, the latter needs to go behind the passenger as it requires the front seat to go a long way forward (which is fine if front passenger less than say 5'8).

Isofix was an option in the front of 997 which came with a on/off for the airbag.
I would talk to your local opc about if it is possible to fit a switch or not.
Otherwise just take out the seat base in the back and put it there as wouldn’t personally want the risk if you can’t turn the airbag off.
I don’t think that dealers are allowed to turn airbags off on their systems for insurance reasons.

OPC's can retrofit the airbag de-actictivation switch which is about £500....it also puts a warning light on the center console that so you know when it's on/off.
There's another thread running on this...you need to follow both Porsche's and the Seat Manufacturer's instructions apparently.

Okay, so a Google seems to confirm that you only have to deactivate the passenger airbag for a rear facing child seat. My daughter is in a forwards facing one so problem solved it seems
While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a very compact rear facing seat that would fit behind me when driving the car? Current one we have that we want to use for our impending new addition to the family won't fit. I'm 5'10" so not particularly tall....

No chance of getting a rear facing seat to fit behind you.Putting the rear facing seat behind the passenger seat and front facing seat behind the driver would be possible I guess. Can confirm a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix fits behind the passenger seat with enough room for a 5'5 adult in the front.
Ive got my son in a maxi cosi cabriofix behind passenger seat, and my daughter behind me in a maxi cosi tobi. Im 5' 10" and my wife is 5'3" so her leg room is not too bad but its a bit of a squeeze however my son will be going forward facing soon. (he is just over 1 and she is almost 4).

Any chance you could post up a pic of the Tobi in place behind your seat, specifically the clearance between it and the seat back? Technically my daughter's seat will fit behind me, but there'd be basically no room for her legs and she'd just kick me the whole time
So i'm wondering if the Tobi seat fits better/you have different seats/your driving position is very different from mine.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
