An old client has asked me to source a nice 911 Cabriolet... All good so far!

Budget flexible, must be a four-wheel-drive, black with black leather, low mileage and good condition.... Not as easy as you'd expect, but VOILA...!! Other end of the country but looks like it's got an Antique Pine dashboard inlay....

I think I quite like it; breaks up the black on black at least. At any rate, it's an automatic C4S soft top, it's never going to be pretending to be a GT3, so may as well have a bit of luxury whilst you waft.

To be honest, I like it too and was gauging opinion before I send it on to my client. He's retired and has a plethora of old classics, so am sure it'll be a great mix of new and contemporary wood smile

As the current owner of a Panamera and past owner of several Mercedes, I find German manufacturers and wood don't generally mix well - over lacquered, funny shades, zebrano etc.

Ditto with their kitchens - I bought a house with a perfectly serviceable modern Poggenpohl kitchen in a dark glossy birds eye maple. If you looked on the back it was not veneer but real wood, and a wonderful light wood at that. I ended up replacing the fronts and not with anything woodsmile.

I realise it's just taste but...

I don't think that looks bad at all. It wouldn't be my preference but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I'd be more concerned about the crappy thumb button gear change on the steering wheel...

yes

It looks less incongruous than anticipated and wouldn't be a deal breaker for me either.

My chap is currently in Singapore so trying to get an answer is like blood from a stone. Now to see if the dealer will deliver it up to Edinburgh!

I'm assured the wood looks just fine....

At least it's not BEIGE inside. That would be a killer. I quite like it.... I have wood in my old 5-series and it give an air of warmth and modernity in an otherwise sombre cabin

It so shiny it doesn't actually look like wood, looks like plastic. Doesn't seem to go with the techy engineering quality Porsche. Cover it with some stick on fake plastic carbon fiber smile
