new engine - good or bad ?
Discussion
does a new engine , fitted in a 2002 996 (by porsche a few months ago), add value or depreciate value from the car .
a specialist is trying to sell me one , and claims that the fact that it has a new engine from porsche that has only done 600 miles , can only add value to the car , is this true ?

I would want to know why it was fitted.
if it was just an RMS issue and they replaced the engine, then I would say it certainly would make it more appealing than a 20k miles origional milage engine, SO LONG AS THEY OFFER A WARRANTY.
New engine out should mean its in top condition in there.
IMHO

If the engine was sourced and fitted correctly it would attract me to a car, but unfortunately people are scared away by things like this....to a modern porsche its just another part which was replaced....literally, you can order one by part number alone.
