Picked up Mrs Cheib's PTS Ruby Star Boxster this morning....really "pops" in the sunshine but is much more muted in the shade. Not one for everyone by any means but a couple of other customers were admiring and asking about it...one of whom was speccing a PTS Jet Green Turbo S which will be a stunning car when he gets it. Everything that isn't painted is black pretty much as there's enough going on with the colour!

You don't buy a car that colour if you're worried about getting offended....and given PH isn't Mumsnet I doubt it'll be the most popular colour!

Is this one of those Ronald McDonald cars I've read about on one of the other threads?

Only kidding. Congratulations on Mrs Cheib new car!

Fantastic, always love a bit of colour and that really shows the car off.

That. Is. Brilliant.

I didn't know that Star Ruby / Rubystone was back on the PTS list in the UK (the last car I know of ordered in that colour is a 996 TT in Guernsey) but I'm very glad it is.

I know it's a "challenging," colour...but I happen to rather like it!

Thanks chaps...its a bit of fun and I think it works. I think the fact it's a Boxster with the roof to break up the colour helps a bit....and also being the standard Boxster doesn't have the red calipers which would clash.

Here's a pic of a GT3 RS in it so it must have been back on the list for 18 months or so....I think it looks great on the RS.

I walked past Porsche Mayfair the other day and every car (bar one Guards Red 718 I think) was grey, black or sliver. Nice to see a splash of colour on a Porsche - good choice!

Enjoy.

Love it - well done for choosing something bold. I love that colour, always have. If I manage to get a 718 GT4 Allocation, that is one of the colours I will consider.

This photo I took at the weekend is a much better representation of the colour...iPhone's really seem to wash out colours of cars when the pics are taken in the sun. Have to say I'd never have bought a Boxster for myself but it's a really nice drive...only the standard non S but plenty powerful enough for zipping around country lanes.

I have to say that looks lovely in that shot - I love Rubystone - works well with the black.

Re the drive - if you like that, you’ll love a 981 Spyder smile
