Hi All,

I am hoping to get some thoughts on our current situation with our order for a new car from our local OPC. Everything has been as promised so far but we are in urgent need for the car as we currently have no family car (2 small children and my 997 as the only vehicle since the family car was stolen and written off). However the car arrived in the UK last Thursday and we were told we should hopefully have the car end of this week. However the latest is its still at the Docks and will most likely be held there until early December now, there is no real explanation as to why this may be other than maybe a lot of cars are waiting to clear customs.

Is this delay at the docks typical in peoples experience? I am honestly wondering whether the car is being deliberately held back by the OPC so that the sale falls into December, probably quite a bleak month for car sales, as it just does not quite feel right that the OPC is not saying it will be delayed for a number of days but the messaging from them is expect it early December now.

Hopefully I am just being paranoid but any thoughts will be appreciated.

I'd want it inspected for crash repair damage...

Most OPC's get one delivery a week...mine gets cars on a Thursday so if your car arrived middle of last week it can easily take a week or more if you miss that delivery/it's full. Obviously if they have enough cars for two transporters then they run two deliveries.

Personally I'd pop into my OPC have a chat with the sale bloke and ask politely to see the emails that have been sent chasing delivery and the replies from Porsche GB. If it's genuine the OPC should have no problem in showing you the correspondence.

I don't think wanting the sale in December is the likely explanation as it's quarter end and year end that's the big one to hit.

My OPC lends cars to people in similar circumstances.

Any OPC with one eye on customer service will offer a free loan car as a gesture of goodwill..I know mine would and i wouldn't even need to ask for it.

Seems a bit slow to me. My car arrived in Grimsby in the early hours of Monday last week (13/11) and arrived at the OPC on Friday (17/11).

Unfortunately a wheel was damaged in transit, but a new one was ordered straight away and it's now ready to collect; I've deferred it until Thursday as I've got a few other thing on.

I'd suggest that they pull their finger out and get it sorted!
