Porsche warranty from non-Porsche dealer
Discussion
Looking at 997s. A specialist has said they could provide a two year Porsche warranty with their car. They have said the car will have to pass the 111 point check to get it. But is there any difference between such a Porsche warranty from a specialist and the same from a Porsche dealer?
It will be a sor car at a guess, a dealer cannot add a Porsche warranty, and a buyer cannot add one for 3 months I think.
A sor car is not dealer owned and they can add a 2 year warranty in the owners name which would pass to you.
3rd party sellers should come with a Porsche 111 check imo, so I would not be offering to pay for it.
That’s a cost for the current owner imo to stand by his car, sor sucks a little bit over who owns it and who is selling it, does a buyer have normal rights buying a SOR car ? I am not sure about that.
A dealer has to warranty a car these days for 3 months I think. But do you trust the dealer to do this while you wait to add a Porsche one if the cars dealer owned.
Porsche did this to hinder 3rd party dealers, this was got round by SOR stock.
The better 3rd party dealers like RSJ and 911v will warranty the cars they sell themselves, no no need for a Porsche warranty.
So your 1st question to the dealer is : dealer owned or a SOR car.
