It's not exactly a pretty shape I see old Toyota Celica at the front Audi A4 at the rear and I'am sure what in between, the sound it makes is nothing special and the first 5sec of the video all I heard was an auto box...big thumbs down for a drivers car.

Not for me thanks I can't see anything here that would replace my Cayman.

Sutcliff said the same in the AE video. Now the Caysters have lost the 6 pot they have lost their main USP.

no manual option so it's a daft car, who wants an auto in this sort of car ?

Lotus Elise 220 every time over this sorry to say.

Jurno's and mags over hype every thing to get clicks, I tend not to watch so much and canceled EVO 12 months ago, most reviews are poor.

Automatic, 4 pot engine with no LSD who even cares about it ? it's not even cheap.
bit like the 4c fail imo.

Another hyped review just like every single car on every single channel !

Me too. A lot. And out of all the present journo's, I'd take Catchpole's word over anyone else's.
It's about time someone proved small lightweight mid-engined cars are still buildable despite all the safety requirements foisted upon today's car manufacturers. The Reggie have always been superb at chassis dynamics and judging spring, damper and anti-roll bar rates. Bet it's an absolute hoot to drive.
No LSD ? For road use it's really not a problem.
Looks ? As ever, it's subjective, but I'd take mine in Reggie Liquid Yellow with a 50hp power boost smile

Saw it at the Geneva show and couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Odd styling, poor quality materials and looked badly put together

I quite like what I saw too (also watched a couple of other video reviews albeit they were presented by those annoying semi professional Youtube types). But loses out to the Cayman when you compare storage space, especially if used for a Euro trip.

Agree with all that. Cancelled EVO when Jethro left, too.

Shame, as I love French performance biscuit-tins of old.

I really like the look of the car, but with my cynical head on was this ever going to get anything other than very positive reviews after the Evo team were given access to the development mule and "input" to the finished product? I'd imagine you probably have to look a long way to find any other Evo review suggesting the lack of a diff is OK in a sporting car.....

I think it's an interesting alternative and am pleased it has got good reviews. If people buy it then we may see a future Alpinesport example with a manual and a power boost. Logical to start modestly given the lack of market presence for Alpine (from mainstream buyers).

This over a Cayman 718? Possibly - 4 pots can sound good. Try a Clio 172 Cup with a decent exhaust for example.

Interestingly at the old school end of the spectrum you can walk into a Nissan showroom and buy a brand new 370Z for £30k plus change. Manual, rear wheel drive, V6, thirsty, heavy. You don't see many of those about either so I think the Alpine will also be a rare car!

Hats off to Henry for another excellent video.

Lack of a manual for what is supposed to be a fun road car has got to be a problem though. For me it certainly would be anyway.

HC does a lovely line in video reviews through; I could watch / listen to him all day long - I hope in real life he’s as pleasant as he appears on my iPhone - top bloke smile

Shame there is no manual option, otherwise this looks like a great car and I would be interested. don't think I need as LSD on the road tbh, so that would not worry me

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
This is the point I was trying to make: The ethos of the design. Great to see a proper car (carpets, nicely trimmed, roof...) with focus directed towards the driver elements and not chasing statistics and number of toys.

Agreed a turbo 4 pot and auto are key features which let the package down but there is so much right about this design I can almost forgive them, well done Alpine.
