when attempting to change the dipped beam headlamp, the internal reflector has come loose and is now moving around within the light cluster...... not sure I will be able to ''re-seat'' in its position...... anyone any ideas or is it a new light cluster?

thanks

996 headlights are sealed and there is not an easy way to,open them.
I have seen a few where they have been opened by heating then gently in an oven to soften the glue which holds the glass front on. Although even if you got it open I am not sure if you would be able to secure the reflector.
I don’t think the 996 pre facelift lights (non xenon) are that expensive 2nd hand, might be easiest to have a look on eBay or post a wanted ad on 911uk.com.

many thanks for your thoughts....and yes it does look like a sealed unit.

I have however managed to fix it !

my son has an extending magnetic tool (with a light) from maplin for picking up screws and similar when he drops them in inaccessible places, this just fit within the reflector - after much swearing and fiddling - allowing us to pull the reflector back sufficiently into its housing to re-seat it.

after that, quick bulb change and jobs a good'un.

thanks again for coming back so quickly.
