Hi Buddy,

Really sorry to hear about your 911, I had one of mine stolen in Aug last year. It was a LHD 964, I assume yours is a LHD also?

My insurance company have still not paid out, and the police were pretty much useless. I hope that your area have some CCTV and that the police can be arsed to check the footage.

Best of luck.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that OP....I gave up having nice cars parked on the street in London after mutiple wheel/parts thefts. Never had a car stolen though, jesus you must be gutted and fuming in equal measures.

Sorry to hear OP. Hope she’s found pronto and undamaged

Can I ask which steering lock you were using? Suddenly I’m feeling a little uneasy that mines man enough for the job.

F'ing garage clause! Insurance company are being c*nts about this and now chasing the police report, they are equally sh*t and stalling. Shame that there is a no naming and shaming policy on PH.

@Op I do hope that you had your car valued correctly for insurance purpose as that's another area where I an going to be f***ed over.

Garage clause? Were you not aware of it?

put it on twitter, and ask for big names to retweet (e.g. Chris Harris). They normally retweet, and so your audience becomes huge. Good luck!

Really sorry to hear this.

My office opp Harrods and I usually spot all the classic Porsches when out and about (including a fine 993 and a 968 cab) but I hadn't seen your great looking car, which must be round the corner from me.

Hope you get it back soon, or that the insurance payout ends up being adequate. They really will find any way to wriggle out of paying out, as well as find any way to load policies!

@Op I do hope you find your car, it's a pretty obvious one!

@All do make sure your pride and joy is correctly valued, especially if you have an old Porsche or a modern classic... This is something I didn't update. Trust me the insurance company should know what the value is, certainly specialist insurance companies.

I have just pulled the picture & put it on FB. Worth putting it on things like the TIPEC website as well.

I was looking for a good padlock recently and almost every one can be picked or cut in seconds. I imagine steering locks are the same? Just put what you're looking to buy into Youtube and there will be someone getting past it. Same for bike locks and chains. I had to go specialist to find an almost unpickable one.
Good luck to the OP. Others - check your insurance valuations and clauses. Of course they won't pay out if you say you'll garage it but then don't.

Thank you very much for that.

I've just heard from the police that their 'enquiries are now complete'. As far as I can tell no one has even been out to look!

Forgive me for this, and I really do hope you get a pay out on losing your 911. smile

But are you saying the insurance company was told it was garaged ad it wasn't and secondly you hadnt' paid (classicline for example charge £20 for a valuation), or at least updated with them the true value of your car but you have in the past? If so, can I ask when was the last valuation.

Only asking as my car stays in one of two places, one garaged and one not, though I have told them this, all of a sudden it might be worth checking they have actually written down all the facts. Also my last valuation was two to three years ago... so this may need updating also.

Whilst it doesn't help the OP (sorry about the loss of your cherished 911), it seems the disklok type theft devices that cover the whole steering wheel are, I understand, considered the better of the anti-theft devices given their full coverage of the wheel and the fact they have a concealed/recessed locking mechanism. A concealed cut-off switch is also useful I'm told.

It never ceases to amaze me how poor insurers can be at times at paying out on a total loss when they treat late payment of their policies in an entirely different way in respect of comments made in this thread - I hope the OP doesn't have to face such a situation.
