Question about 911 GTS
Discussion
My friend is looking at a 911 GTS, 1996 P reg. At a large Porsche dealer in Newcastle. The asking price is 65k and it has 21,000 mile on the clock and is mint. Is this a good price? The car is Yellow and looks stunning, it is running at 450bhp and has factory mods only, it is also suppose to be 1 of 30 in the country.
That is too expensive IMHO.
Early 40s would be about right. The 928 GTS was a lovely car, but the yellow 450bhp thing seems a funny mix of racer and grand tourer. This will limit its appeal. Rarity value worth something, but that's why I reckon low 40s not mid 30s.
If you want to lose 25k quite quickly, you could buy this car. I would suggest an evening with UV down at the Mayfair Casino with a couple of high class hookers and a kilo of colombian would be just as destructive to your finances though, and much more fun

Is there some confusion here or have you actually seen this car Dom?
Wighty says a 911 GTS, not a 928 GTS, don't think, in fact convinced they didn't make 928s that late (stand to be corrected of course). Would be facinated to see a piccie if you have one?
Anyway, if it is a 928 I agree with Dom, if a 911 I'll have to see more.
ps: Always in favour of the night out with UV, I'm sure he has the contacts to set a grin on your face the size of Sydney Harbour bridge.

Any chance it could be a 993 Turbo S?
These had 450bhp didn't they? And that would explain the age and price too wouldn't it?
I saw a silver 993 Turbo S yesterday actually, a silver R reg one, in a petrol station in Sunningdale.
Gorgeous. never seen on in the flesh before that.

Yellow Leather appears on the brief advert. Clicking on 'info', returns Leather Trim, i.e. no mention of yellow. Wonder if JCT have got it wrong! Anyway, I can't afford the car, so I don't have to worry about it.
Oops! I forgot, back to the original question, ''is it a good price'' ?????????

OK, I still think it is overpriced. I would say it was worth high 40s maximum. Especially with a ghastly yellow leather interior. Maybe 50 on the head considering its low miles and high spec engine.
People prefer the Turbo 4 in metallics or dark solids.
Thanks to Pete for sorting out what it actually was
I did find reference to the 911 GTS, which was basically what the track 911s were sometimes known as - ie the racing GT2s were sometimes called GTS-2s, presumably so as not to mistake them with the road going homologation variants. Not a common model designation, though, and probably not an official one.

This hasn't got anything to do with the 911 (GTS). Just filling up space on this thread.
I have been looking at what appears to be a standard 911 turbo of 1985 vintage. Its not for sale you understand, its in for repair. Its a LHD German registered with the reg ending in 930. Anyway, the only obvious mods are a roll cage and a really big gauge on top of the engine. No big/wild wings. The car is very tatty, very worn seats and interior. The big giveaway that is is something special is the belts have RUF imprinetd on them. On asking about the car, the reply is along the lines of:
Ah!, its the RUF protype, its the actual car that did Nuremburg at 200mph.
The repair required - its got a blown turbo. Car is in Bob Watsons

This looks a very specialist vehicle.
Started off as a standard 993 T4. With some very expensive factory options:
Factory 450 power upgrade.(Like Turbo S and high spec GT2s)
Guessing 993 GT2 spoiler kit.
Air intakes in front of rear wheels.
Roll cage.
It wouldn't surpise me if the above options and the carbon bits added £30k to the vehicle list price. Ie the original owner would have paid about £127,500 for the vehicle.
I would guess JCT took it in PX, it's too specialist a vehicle to buy in throught he trade to retail on. Agree with Dom, £65k is too much, I would expect to see this vehicle on the forecourt at approx £58k.

There is a genuine yellow 993 Turbo S at an OPC in the midlands - £66k for a 98R.
That one seems a bit overpriced IMVHO.

Sorry I have not got back to everyone, but the car is badged up with GTS.
You could put a Carrera 4 badge on a Carrera 2. Though it doesn't give the car 4WD.
I together with most of the officianados on this board have not heard of a 993 GTS, so unless Porsche GB advise you otherwise assume it is the owner trying to differentiate his vehicle from the "masses".
cheers

I think this car may have been for sell 18/24 months ago, it's a memorable spec, either Topmarques or 911 & PW.
