Insurance - NCD trap beware!!!
Discussion
Hi Guys
I am taking delivery of a new car and have just talked to my insurance company about this addition. I have two cars on my exiting policy. A 996 and a Range Rover. Drivers are my wife and me. We have had no claims in over 13 years, the last 4 with the existing company - all well documented. When calculating the premium on the new car I could not use my NCB on more than 1 car. I then said that my wife, who is the driver of the registered RR could have her NCD transferred to the RR policy. They said that due to the fact that she had not been the policy holder she had lost her NCB totally and had to start from scratch. App. after two years of no use you loose it. This is ridiculous as the has been the registered driver of the RR all along. So if this happens to you make sure that you avoid this pitfall and lose valuable NCD.

Talk to Diamond Insurance www.diamond.co.uk/
My wife and I had a similar problem with NU. She had been a named driver on my policy for 10+ years (no claims) but when we needed to insure 2 cars no NCD could be passed onto a new NU policy in her name. As long as we could show Diamond that we had full NCD on the NU policy, they allowed her full NCD on the new policy, which incidentally was just over half the cost of the NU policy anyway (and another 10% discount for paying up front). Bye bye NU.............

I have a BMW insured thru Admiral. They have told me that if I insure my new Boxster with them they will give me my full No Claims and they will start a new policy for my wife, who has been a named driver on my policy for years, with full No Claims as well.
She's younger but it will be cheaper to insure the Beemer with me as named driver than the other way around.
After weeks of ringing various companies this has worked out the best deal. I could get a cheaper quote for the Porsche elsewhere but then her insurance goes up the same amount that I save.

A-Plan do a policy for several vehicles in one family -can't remember what its called, but you get full NCD for all vehicles. named drivers and listed vehciles only, but we paid about £1700:00 for 996tt. evo7 and pug 406 all at once ( 2 drivers so only 2 cars on road at any one time )
give 'em a try !!
