wow saw my first 996gt3
Discussion
today in heavy traffic came alongside 996 gt3 in yellow Wow Wow ,still hanging onto my 996gt2 but
if i can afford when i retire either 991,997 turboS or 997gt2 but having seen the 996 gt3 im leaning to the older "Classic"
are they a good daily driver cos im not buying a garage Queen thats the GT2, any owners of 996GT3 using them as a daily.if so how liveable are they im 6-6 and had to put a larger rexaro xl seat in so my choice would be the comfort

OK as a daily driver so long as you don't have a horrendous commute. Front is low and will scrape, also its a bit hardcore. However, I graduated from Land Rovers via a pickup truck to a 993 which I now use daily. I regularly drove a 996GT3 around Bath/Bristol without any bother. Also it was silver so I don't think people even noticed it
Thanks for all the information from ownership
1 I love the size shape as i have a 996GT2
only issue is my bloody size i had to remove the scaffolding on the GT2 and buy an extra large Recars and also install steering wheel extension and Console Delete. so bit of pain maybe the comfort seats are a bit more forgiving on my arse. Ill sit in one in May. Daily driver will be retirement short runs ill buy a banger for that. but bycycle rack and luggage and scotland and yorkshire dales here i come with trips to my friends in Croatia and Norway
The yellow looked amazing , Yellow was never a colour i previously would consider but Green/yellow on a GT car is amazing.
Tell me about scraping the front lip

I used to have a Speed Yellow 996 mk.2 GT3....great car. Pin sharp and nimble. Surprising how much smaller they are in comparison to the 991.
Coincidentally I'm going to buy another next week. This time in Guards Red. Very looking forward to it.

GT2 is still going strong I minted the underneath of the car and wheel arches and suspension and resurfaced the PCCB and installed. Refurbed all spring. new turbo actuators, hoses etc etc etc
have ypu driven the 991 whats your thoughts , whats the best porsche youve owned or in fact the best car?

Hey....didn't recognise you. How are you doing? Sounds like you've been busy with the GT2. GT2 is still going strong I minted the underneath of the car and wheel arches and suspension and resurfaced the PCCB and installed. Refurbed all spring. new turbo actuators, hoses etc etc etc

Love the GTS but I've really done way to few miles in her. My recent plan was to sell and buy a 997.2 GT3 RS or maybe a 991.1 GT3 RS. Yesterday I decided that I'll keep the GTS and buy something else to use for the odd track day etc - today I put a deposit on a Guards Red 996 Mk.2 GT3. I think they'll make a nice combo.
As for the best car....has to be my old McLaren 650S.

Gorgeous!
My old Speed Yellow car.

Thats the one i saw yesterday with porsche silver wheel nice car. Bloody Mcclaren wow pm me and tell me more. I sold my TVR Griff and the new owner really went to town on it with Omex etc electric power steering various other goodies then blew Engine on RR showing 422 at wheels( doubt the accuracy of RR so what) then had the engine rebuilt at John Eales with JE forged pistons cross bolted block top hat liners etc etc , rebuilt supercharger block cut a long story short he put about 200hrs of his own time into car and spent short of 8 k i bought it back 7k more than what i sold it for. The TVR just is such a wonderful feel and balance to it and the torq etc just squats and shoots out of bends feeding in the power. My old Speed Yellow car.

Ive yet to get a handle on the GT2 thats got to be on a training course on fast driving someguy your way runs the courses.

996 GT3 mk2 is my favourite GT3 of them all.
As owners will confirm, a very pure drive devoid of the additional insulating layers that came with the later variants.
Mk1 probably there as well though my preference is for the additional savagery of the mk2 power plant.

Beautiful car thats the driving experience im looking for thanks for the inpu.As owners will confirm, a very pure drive devoid of the additional insulating layers that came with the later variants.

Especially in Guards Red.... I've got one in the garage somewhere. I'll try & find it when I get home in a few weeks.
Still lost? It'll be a barn find by now!
Unfortunately the builder told her it was worth 100k so it might have gone before I see it again!
