Misfire-backfire under accleration

Hoping for assistance, just bought 99 boxster and had 2 days. While accelerating (and under intermittement times) car would bog, misfire, backfire and die...could sometimes coax back to life but not fun on the highway. So far have repalced O2 sensors, TPS and now am considering and expensive air flow meter...before that any help you could give would be appreaciated....thanks

The only advice I can offer is to track the problem down methodically rather than replace components speculatively. You should be able to identify most sensor faults with the correct diagnostic equipment.
