The modern feature I miss most on Porsches

I do enjoy many Porsches, both old and new, but it mystifies me why they do not fit HUD.
The current HUDs on BMWs for instance are simply brilliant; I do think that a feature that lets you keep your eyes on the road is a positive, and personally I do not care much about night vision assist, lane change warnings , radar assisted cruise control and the like.
This is a common feature on cars these days, and Porsche is behind. In general, their Porsche Connect and the like lag significantly behind companies like Nissan or Lexus. I am not sure they completely get digital services.
This in no way means that I want some kind of autonomous car..the opposite.Just want things that help me to be a better driver.

I had the HUD on a recent 5-series and it was indeed fantastic. It wasn't a deal-breaker though. A very nice perk but not something I'd stop buying a Porsche for, for example.
Not sure I'd count the Mazda 3 as having a 'proper' HUD mind you, though I suppose in practice the advantage of those pop-up plastic ones is still similar to a real one.

On my 981 I've disabled all the dashboard screens except for oil temperature, etc. I've disabled park assist, comfort entry, memory seats and all the other pointless electronics. Not got round to disabling DRL yet.

Ok my DRL comment may be a bit flippant but from a safety point of view they are flawed as they don't turn on the rear lights, which is why I drive with dipped beam on in all weather.
I've had use of a Panamera Sport Turismo turbo recently and the amount of electronics is ridiculous, so much so that when you turn the engine off it keeps everything running until you open the door (even the lights in the dashboard vents). Stationary for 5 minutes and the low voltage warning is displayed on the dash and the car struggles to restart. For a £140k car that kind of design flaw is ridiculous.

I have an ST Turbo and agree that the setup is a pain; However, the memory key works very well, so once I set the seats/mirrors/air conditioning etc up, I really never had to access those menus again; equally, with multiple drivers it can be done for several people. Have had no issues with battery discharge whatsoever. I dislike the stop/start when I am at a traffic light for example, and cannot disable it unless the car is in sport mode. Still, for a big car it is an exceptional driver, especially when driven hard. Not an RS, but an great road car.
