991 DIY brake fluid change
Discussion
Is it OK to use a pressure brake bleeder (Sealey VS820 or similiar) on a 991.1? I've heard stories of people cracking their brake fluid reservoir with as little as 10PSI but not on Porsches.
I'm guessing around 20PSI would be sufficient, with 250ml per corner? I'm using RBF600 fluid.
Anything I need to know that is unique to the 991?

Hello.
From what I know, 10-20 psi should be fine. I'd find it hard to believe that a brake reservoir would explode, more likely it'd just split open (revealing a hitherto unknown fault, IMO) - the 'explode' element would just be all the fluid being forced out due to the pressure involved, which was probably too high in the first place.
Anyway yes, start with the offside rear as the furthest calliper, then go round again to be sure once you've done all four.
Hope this helps

Hi I use the Sealey bleeder, and i only use 4-5 psi, as it will leak past the cap that's with kit, and fill the boot.
The Sealey cap is plastic, as is the reservoir on the car, the threads must be slightly different.

Thats a bit interesting, and worrying! I have the Sealey VS820.v4, what Porsche model are you using it on?The Sealey cap is plastic, as is the reservoir on the car, the threads must be slightly different.
