I'm off to Europe soon and should change my rears.
They are not worn out, but I've three trips planned and at some point they will be. So, rather than discover I'm down to the carcass half way across France/Germany/Italy, I reckon I should change them now.

But which ones do I buy.
I'm driving a 997.2 C2S and don't track it or race it. Just spirited driving and cruising about.

Its currently on Michelin Pilot Sports, with N2 written on them. (What does that mean)
I see Pirelli does a lot of advertising in the Porsche Club magazine.

Any recommendations.
I'm more interested in grip (in the dry), noise and wear. Price is not on the top of the list of concerns.

Cheers.

If you have a Porsche GB warranty, you are not allowed to pick tyres without the correct N rating, Porsche should be able to advise you, and Blackcircles has an icon too. I believe the system runs N0 to N7. Wikipedia will help too.

Simply put, you pay £1000s for the Porsche warranty, but if you break the car with the wrong type of rubber on the wheels then Posrche can rip up your warranty.

Sooooo

Porsche warranty - yes or no?

If not, then Michellins, Pirelli, Bridgestone, any of companies with a racing pedigree.

I have always put Michellins on mine, (no warranty) and have Pilot Sport 4s, but unless you're a racing driver or run them in a side by side comparison, you're not going to know the difference between the big players.

Cheers, that's useful info. My car is an 09 plate, so dosent have a Porsche warranty. However, the info on their list is great. I shall have a look and pick some.

I run continentals on the same model. It’s a good tyre - get yourself on tyreleader and grab a deal.

Michelin 4S is N rated now apparently. I renewed mine not long ago for £860 fitted, 4 x Michelin SuperSports non n rated....mines a turbo so prob bigger on the rears. I was quoted £1200 for 4 x N rated PS2 or similar at Porsche

Michelin widely regarded as the way to go, however options are limited if you wish to buy N-Rated.

You currently run Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) which are N2 rated, N rating is nothing more than a Porsche money making scheme.

PS2's although a good tyre are old tech and have been superseded by the Pilot Super Sport, which has recently been replaced by the Pilot Sport 4S (PS4S) - However neither of these has gone through the N-Rating certification.

If you want N rated Michelin, as far as I know its PS2 or Cup2

I currently have PS2 on a 997T, when they need replacing i will goto PS4S which are getting good reviews.

I've just fitted N rated MPS4S (20") tyres to my 981CS, so becoming available in some sizes..

According the the Michelin site they're approved for the 981 but not the 997. PS2 or PS2 Cup in 19" are your only options if you're bothered about the Porsche extended warranty.

If not, Michelin PS4Ss seem to be the hot favourite right now.

OK, so Pilot Super Sport is better than what I've currently got. Is the Pilot Sport 4S for 4WD, or is that just a bigger number so it looks better from a marketing point of view ?

Super sports are N rated. I'm under warranty and planning to get these fitted to my Cayman if the 4S doesn't get rated in time.

No connection between 4 for Michelin and 4wd.

Its just Jaws 3 following Jaws 2

Recently had a set of pilot sport 4s fitted to my 997.2 C2S, replacing Bridgestone Potenzas. Highly recommmended.

Paid just over £800 fully fitted from blackcircles, although delivery took a while. (19”, 235/35 and 305/30) .
