Hello guys,

I'm new to the forum put wanted some advice/tips on buying a Porsche.

I've always loved the look of Porsche so I've recently decided that in the next year I'm going to go out and buy one!

I'll likely have a budget around 20-25k. So for this budget what model should I look at?

I've been looking at listings (Cayman S) on sales sites and I've seen lots with very high milage. Should I worry about milage being high?

Ideally I'd like the mod cons so what year would I bet best looking at? Bluetooth sat nav etc

Any other advice in general would be greatly appreciated! And even your own experiences buying/driving Porches would help.

Thanks in advance...

As you want something reasonably modern I would use your budget on a gen 2 Cayman 2.9 as you'll get a good spec and reasonable mileage. For a similar age/mileage S you'll need a budget closer to £30K. For fun road driving the 2.9 is all that you need.

Cheers for the response. I'll take a look. I've never had a Porsche so i think the one you've suggested would do the job. What year is the gen 2? Just so I can look on sites.

With regards to milage usually you're advised to find cars with lower miles but obviously buying a car with such high value i'll have to get ones with miles on. Anything in particular to lookout for?

Buy from Porsche AUP
This comes with their warranty which is priceless (and absolutely necessary)
Put at least some of the car on finance

Worth looking at a 987.2 Boxster S as they're great value and you get the benefit of a soft-top.

After all the car was designed as a roadster.

I'll have a look at these for sure! Soft top would be nice for summer.
