Has the title states I want to hear from Porsche owners who have /had a F56 JCW.Sold the Gt4 end of last year to release funds for house purchase and have a bit left in the kitty to buy a fun weekend car for circa £25k. Long story short I was looking for a 987.2 but the misses has always wanted a JCW so I thought let's give it a go so a deal has been struck on a new car before production ceases in June until March next year(yes even mini have a shut down of production)
I have put this on the Porsche forum because I want a Porsche owners/drivers perspective although the cars are chalk and cheese.
What I want to know before lock down is what extras are worth having especially suspension ? I have gone chilli pack and basic nav. plus heated screen (which should be free)and electric mirrors. But my big question is the suspension , is the standard sports suspension really that harsh and is adaptive any more planted and worth the extra ? I know the run flats are crap (and you cannot order them out)but are they so bad you need adaptive suspension or is it better to wait until the tyres are worn and swap out for some nice michelins? Now I love a sports car to feel like a sports car and can never understand buyers who want the saloon/ limo ride in said cars but we all like what we like! I have always enjoyed sports suspension (X73)over PASM in Porsches especially the one found in the 987 Spyder and as for the Gt4 I always kept PASM in sports mode without a problem and actually would have preferred the car with a passive set up!
Also any other extras worth considering? Or am I making a big mistake going down the F56JCW route over something else new/nearly new at this price point!
Thanks

Unless you need the seats consider getting a R56 GP2 and stick some Ohlins R&T on it you wont lose any money on it and its about as close to the GT4 experience as you will get for circa £20K. If you must have F56 try and find one of the Challenge cars like this one https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

I had an R56 JCW with Ohlins, buckets and sticky tyres and it was soo much fun. The R56 engine likes to be revved whereas I felt the F56 whilst quick didn't feel as engaging. Bit like the F6NA vs F4T.

I agree, why not a GP? I have a Porsche and the GP (Mk I) is my general run around. Brilliant little roller skate even with runflats.

Just bear in mind it only has two seats.

Best of luck.

I've a friend whose had a 996 and now has a Boxster 2.7 amongst his fleet as well as an F56 Cooper S that has been modified significantly (running 300 bhp). His comment was that the F56 has firm suspension though he's running KW suspension and a reduced ride height amongst the various upgrades he's got though he's not on run flat tyres. As a standard car they're decent on pace, though with an intercooler, exhaust/remap they're verging on almost too much power for a fwd car. The F56 is a lovely car build-wise though I agree a GP2 is a more balanced car as it's just a little smaller/nimble.

The Mini tuning scene can be habit forming if you go that route (& wallet emptying) BTW.
