Is my aircon working?
Discussion
I had my (993) aircon regassed a couple of months ago when I brought the car. When I set the temp to cold and switch on the a/c I get a noticeable rush of air but it is at outside temperature - not icy cold as I would expect. Is this how it's meant to be or is it broken? Don't want to go back to the dealer just to be told TADTS.
open the engine lid and have a lok at the air con compressor on the right hand side.
see there is a wheel with a belt?
now go and start the engine with the a/c switched off, have a look at the compressor again, you will see the wheel is turning because of the belt, but the centre is not. This is the solenoid actuated part.
now go back in the car and turn the aircon on full blast (the BIG snowflake) and then go look again - if the compressor has engaged you will see the centre spinning also. If not, you need a re-gas (and if you just had a re-gas then it's all leaked so you'll need new seals and a re-gas).

just noticed you're in Reading!
I can even recommend an aircon expert who has helped me out in the past if you do need seals or just a re-gas.
they're in winnersh and they're very good.

Not sure mine is working - will check this evening. Assuming not, I live in Maidenhead and would like the contact details of your expert if poss.
Cheers
